National Traveller MABS is part of the national network of Money Advice and Budgeting Services around the country that offer free, confidential and independent services for people in debt or in danger of getting into debt.-

In recent weeks much media attention has been given to the issue of financial exclusion among low income families and individuals.

National Traveller MABS have worked with Travellers since 1998 who have experienced financial exclusion.

Many clients who have come to National Traveller MABS have had the following difficulties:

• Failure to open a bank account due to inadequate forms of ID
• Failure to access legal and affordable credit and savings
• Use of illegal money lender to meet costs eg funerals, caravans, etc

 National Traveller MABS would like to hear from Travellers or Traveller support groups who have or currently face these difficulties.  We hope to use this feedback to add to our policy recommendations to combat financial exclusion.
